The first thing you need to know is that there are several popular medications for hair loss and men’s hair loss, namely, finasteride (Propecia) and minoxidil (Rogaine) and the only two other FDA-approved treatments are Proscar and Minoxidil.

As with all medications, you must follow all instructions provided by your doctor and not take more than the recommended dose of your medication, even if you have the desire to try the medication. As a result, it’s very important to follow these guidelines when taking finasteride and minoxidil.

The most common dosage for Propecia is 1mg per day. The dosage of Minoxidil is also based on the strength of the drug in comparison to Propecia and is typically 5mg per day.

If you have any questions about the dosage of Propecia, you should contact your doctor immediately.

However, it’s important to note that this dosage is only intended to treat male pattern hair loss and not baldness.

If you are in a family that is genetically prone to hair loss, it’s important to be aware of the signs and symptoms of baldness. These include:

  • Decreased sex drive
  • Redness around the face
  • Itchy scalp or a general thinning of the hair
  • Itchy scalp
  • Hair loss (e.g., receding hairlines, hairs on the back of the head)
  • Severe skin irritation
  • Dryness of the scalp
  • Redness of the scalp or a general thinning of the hair

It’s also important to be aware that men are more likely to experience hair loss if they have not had sexual activity for a long time. It’s important to talk to your doctor about this, as it can be difficult to know which is causing the hair loss and whether this is an issue for you.

If you have any questions or concerns about your treatment, please contact the at our on-line contact page.

In some cases, you may find a way to get the treatment you need directly from your doctor.

I have taken the first two months of Propecia and have been absolutely amazed by how effective it is. I have noticed a significant decrease in my hair density, which is a really amazing thing. I have noticed noticeable shedding for the last few months and I have started to notice some shedding in my crown area and have been noticing some shedding in my hairline. I was on about 1mg of the medication and am hoping to see an increase in shedding. I would have expected to see a reduction in hair loss and hair regrowth as my body is taking the medication. However, it did not come out at all as I expected. In my experience, it takes about 30-60 min to shedding hair. The results have been amazing. I am also on the 5mg dose of minoxidil and am on my third prescription of a different drug for my hair loss and my hair loss is continuing to improve as my hair density and thickness is increasing and I am noticing a significant decrease in my hairline. I would have preferred to take the 5mg dose of minoxidil instead of the 1mg, but I am a big believer that Propecia can be an effective solution for those dealing with hair loss. I am currently taking Propecia 1 mg (50mg) every other day for 5 months and have noticed a significant decrease in my hair growth rate. I am hoping that I can gain the additional motivation to keep going to this new drug and try to regain my confidence and hair density. If you are interested in trying the 5mg, 1mg, and 5mg Propecia, contact us today!

I am thrilled to report that I have been able to maintain my hairline and regrow my hair. I had to have my new hair loss surgery on in July 2015 so I am very grateful that my hair follicles have grown and that my crown area has also increased. I also had some other new hair growth on my scalp and I am looking forward to seeing what my hair loss has been going on this summer. I would not be able to go back to taking the Propecia and I would be very disappointed if I did not see a change in my hair loss.

I am so excited to see that it has been working. I am not sure if I am going to keep my hairline or regrow my hair, but I am hoping to see some results. I am also trying to get back to my normal hair loss levels and this is going to be very exciting for me. I am also looking forward to seeing the results of the new hair loss surgery.

Benefits of Propecia

Propecia has been proven to be effective in treating male pattern baldness and reducing the risk of developing hair loss in the majority of cases. In rare cases, the drug may also have a beneficial impact on the hair growth process, especially in cases of early-stage hair loss and when treatment is started early in the process. With a wide range of benefits, Propecia offers a ray of hope for those suffering from male pattern baldness and other balding disorders.

How Does Propecia Work?

Propecia works by inhibiting the enzyme 5-alpha reductase, which converts testosterone into dihydrotestosterone (DHT). DHT is a potent hormone that plays a significant role in the development of male pattern baldness, but in some cases, it may also contribute to the hair loss process in some cases.

By reducing the levels of DHT in the scalp and body, Propecia helps to slow down hair loss and promote new hair growth. By blocking the conversion of testosterone to DHT, Propecia helps to stimulate the growth of hair and prevent further hair loss.

Potential Side Effects

Like any medication, Propecia can cause side effects, although not everyone experiences them. Common side effects include sexual dysfunction (erectile dysfunction) and breast tenderness. More serious side effects are rare but require immediate medical attention.

In rare cases, Propecia may cause severe side effects such as vision disturbances (such as blurred vision, decreased eye movement, etc.), chest pain, and low blood pressure. Some people may also experience allergic reactions such as rash, itching, swelling, or difficulty breathing.

In more severe cases, Propecia may cause allergic reactions such as swelling of the face, lips, or tongue. If you experience any of these symptoms, seek medical attention immediately.

For a full list of side effects, please refer to the patient information leaflet included with the medicine.
